Lawhead's Hood - not quite BBC!

Fantasy author Stephen Lawhead's latest book is a reimagining of the Robin Hood legend. But fans of the BBC series might find a few differences...

Lawhead, a meticulous researcher places Robin (who he calls Bran) in Walesin 1093, going on the basis of his reputation, we can probably say that this is a more realistic vision than the travesty currently playing out on the BBC.

Lawhead's story is good stuff, and as usual it takes on weighty questions of faith and identity.

Robin, or Bran, is the son of a king, made homeless when his father is
killed. He goes on to discover his destiny amongst the trees of a primeval
forest - cue a reunderstanding of destiny, a mystical approach to life, and
a good yarn.

Hood is the first book by Lawhead in a trilogy for young readers, called
King Raven.

Robin Hood has a good background in comics of course - he's popped up all
over the place in DC and Marvel titles, as well as elsewhere. In 2007 Tony
Lee is promising us a superb graphic novel - entitled: Robin Hood - Outlaw's
Pride. Sounds promising, but I cant help feeling the satirists have missed a trick - where's Robin Hoodie?
